The Golden Octopus Foundation has been announced as this year’s chosen charity partner for Paradise Outdoor Advertising.

Announcing the news of the selection of the charity, Paradise Outdoor Advertising CEO Mr Mitch James said he is looking forward helping generate awareness of and much-needed funding for the foundation.

“The Golden Octopus Foundation works to improve oncology facilities for children in all regional areas,” explains Mitch. “This also includes working to ensure the availability of childhood cancer nurses in our communities, which alleviates the need for families to spend long periods of time away from home.”

Through the partnership, the Golden Octopus Foundation will receive a billboard campaign to the value of $100,000. “This is our annual staff-driven community charity project,” said Mitch. “Each year a charity is selected as a way that we can give back to our community. To date we have donated more than $700,000 to local charities and we will continue to do so. The fight against childhood cancer is something our team is very passionate about.”

Cathy Johnson from the Golden Octopus foundation said this support is a dream come true.

“We have selected eight children to be the faces of the billboards throughout the region,” said Cathy. “These eight faces of childhood cancer, along with our Ambassador Lee Kernaghan will represent the foundation, giving identity to the campaign.

“The more awareness and support we create, the closer we come to easing the impact this journey has on our families.  We also hope to increase awareness so that our government will allocate more funding into childhood cancer research.  4% isn't enough; they deserve more.

With September being childhood cancer month, the Foundation urges the community to get behind them in support of their campaign.  “We are encouraging our community to “Go for Gold” in supporting the Golden Octopus Foundation this September,” said Cathy.

“At our recent board meeting in Sydney, our Directors were extremely impressed with how much we have achieved in a short time, and with wonderful sponsors such as Paradise Outdoor Advertising coming on board, we can advance even further.”

“Look out for the eight billboards that are now installed and rotating around Queensland from Port Douglas out to Mount Isa and south to Maryborough.,” said Mitch.  “We are going for gold this September and look forward to our community’s support.”
